| SupportPoint Application Server |
|
The Application Server software is the heart of the SupportPoint system. It drives the SupportPoint Author and Viewer clients, stores all content, and provides content search and delivery capabilities, system security, user administration, and reporting. It also communicates with external SMTP, Active Directory, and LDAP servers.
CapacityThe Application Server can support many thousands of users from a single instance. Additional Application Servers can be implemented across large distributed networks that are subject to latency issues. TheseSatellite Servers synchronize with content from the central server, thereby keeping up to date with the global content.
CompatibilityThe Application Server software operates on Microsoft® Windows 2003 Server, and Red Hat and CentOS Linux servers. No Integration RequiredThe primary interaction between SupportPoint and existing systems focuses on the desktop. SupportPoint achieves context sensitivity by recognizing application screens and proposing guidance information that is relevant to those screens. As a result, SupportPoint typically requires no integration work which makes it very cost-effective to implement and maintain.
ScalabilitySupportPoint is designed to operate quickly, even on slow networks. By using powerful compression techniques and streamlined document formats to reduce content size, SupportPoint delivers fast access, quick searches, and superior performance.
SecuritySupportPoint's security features include:
Access and Change ControlsSupportPoint provides configurable review and approval structures for creating, publishing, and modifying source content. All content changes are retained, and all previous document revisions can be reviewed in their entirety. Revisions can be compared side by side, with color-coded highlighting to show changes, additions, and deletions.
